We're finally getting to this year. We just have a little area to plant in, but I was thrilled to find out that several of the things we wanted to plant can be done right in the ground this time of year. I was sad when we didn't start any indoors a couple of months ago. We were able to get some starts from friends of some of the other vegetables we wanted. It will be interesting to see how these turn out.
It's also interesting to see how many more weeds you get when you plant them in the ground instead of in planters on a second story balcony. That's how we did it before. So, we're definitely getting the weeding exercise in, too.

We are gardening just a little. We live in military housing, so we're limited to planters, but we planted some strawberries, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, and basil! It's fun for the kids, too! :)

I've been trying to get motivated too. I use the myfitnesspal app to keep track of my calories, but i've been avoiding logging for months now. I recently started making it back to the gym and counting calories, literally meaning the last week haha. I think friends are my biggest influence, when I have a workout partner telling me to go, I feel obligated :)

Really, there are too many things that can be emasculating, if you let them be. It's too much work worrying about if you're dude enough.

If you can find a way to recognize the socially constructed expectations of what's manly, then you start to recognize those influences. It doesn't eliminate years of conditioning, but it does give you the chance of deciding whether you agree with the narrative or not.
