Indoor Rock Climbing Field Trip

We went on our final school field trip on Monday to an indoor rock climbing place. The kids just loved it.  They got a chance to be active and try something new.

I spent most of my time looking like this:

I guess the name for it is belay.  I was responsible for being on the other end of the rope and making sure the kids were safe by holding onto the rope and lowering them down. I learned how to tie some special double 8 knot very well as I got them ready to climb.

There was also a place for bouldering and some of the munchkins tried it. It's a shorter wall you climb up sans rope.

Here I am pretending to rock climb; I'm really only about 2 feet off the ground. Since I was busy belaying, I didn't get a chance to actually do it myself. I think it would be fun to go sometime and get some exercise.

Have you done rock climbing? What is your favorite kind? Any tips?

I haven't gone rock climbing. It looks like you had fun, though. And it's nice you were there to support (literally) the students.
