How Much Do You Want to Lose?

I think that setting goals is one of the best steps to take along your weight loss journey.  Unless you know where you are going, how can you get there?

I decided that I wanted to lose 131 pounds.  I chose this number because:
  • It's half of my highest weight ever.  I want to say I am half the gal I used to be.
  • It's within the healthy range for my height (5'4")
  • It just sounds cool - 131.  Daunting but doable.
I am realistic however - my body may balk and not want to go down that low.  I will be happy as long as I walk my way out of obesity and past overweight into normalville.  That would be around 145 or so.

I was curious about how much everyone else was looking to lose, so I created this poll.  It's anonymous, so don't worry about the world knowing this secret, if it's one for you.  If you like, you can leave a comment on how you chose this goal, what you're doing to reach it, what clothes you are trying to get back into - the sky's the limit!

How much do you want to lose?

I want to lose about 100 pounds - I am between 1/5 and 1/4 of the way there. I have been losing slowly, but recently I decided to kick it into afterburner mode. So tomorrow I am going to add a diet element into my lifestyle plan - just for a while until I can get closer to my goal. But even just losing 20 pounds or so, I am in smaller clothes than I have been in forever - YAY! I can't wait to buy an entirely new wardrobe. I started working for the company that I am doing my weightloss journey with - so that gives me even more incentive to get it off and keep it off!

Congrats so far, and it's fun you get to work for that company too. I am in smaller clothes too, though it's sometimes not-so-fun in the middle when you are swimming in old clothes, but you're not there yet so you don't want to buy a ton of new clothes.

But yay for you - great job!

I want to lose about 60 pounds. I'm only 4'11" and I should be around 105-115. I'm just like you. I want to get out of obesity, go past overweight, and head straight to normal. That's my goal.

Thanks for sharing this information with us, and good luck towards reaching your goals! :]

I'm a hundred pound wanna be too! If I can lose the last 40, I will be at 138. (Honestly it sounds impossible. But then again, so did losing the first 60!) Thanks for linking up! I am excited to see you working towards your 131. Just remember one thing. DETERMINATION. Your diet will bust, your exercise routine will hurt- but don't ever let that DETERMINATION falter. If you have that- you can do amazing things!!!
Rooting for a 131 victory!!!

I really enjoyed reading your post! It made me smile.
You have a great goal and I love the reasons. :) Just remember with big goals take em in stride otherwise they are overwhelming. I started out with 150 to lose. I've lost 50 in 10 lbs increments. the thought of another 100 is seriously insanity to me but I've gotten this far!
CAN'T WAIT to hear more!!!!!

Stopping by from OLS. I lost about 100lbs a few years ago. Now I have gained about 25lbs back. Would love to lose 10-15lbs. Congrats on your progress so far. Have a great winning day:)

I think it would be wonderful to lose 100 pounds, but I have problems looking that far in the future, so I have to focus on like 2 pounds this week. Joining in the Flab to Fab challenge!

I have lost 20 pounds already and would like to get rid of another 15-20. Luckily I have kept the first 20 off for about three months and am now working on the 15-20. But its hard with the hubby gone because I am like "he wont see me eat this ice cream". So I had to make a promise to God which always helps keep me in line : )

I have a really cute skirt from Old Navy that I would really like to get into to go pick up the hubby when he gets home from being out of town. We will see....

73lbs is my goal. I don't think I've been that since I was at school and am 33 now!

I have a wardrobe of incentive clothes all still with their labels on, all been there for years. Determined this is the year I will wear them and not only will they fit - they will be comfortable too :)

Saw your linky on the flab to fab blog. Hope you don't mind some support from the UK! We can do this!
