Smaller Plates = Eating Less

I'm a little behind on trying to lose weight at the moment.  I was supposed to go back to Utah a few days ago but got hit with a bout of bronchitis.  I'm almost better now and ready to drive to Utah and hit the gym.

I did visit Target today to buy some of their fruit bars. They're excellent since they have no added sugar.  I have tried Strawberry and Pomegranate so far.  They also have Cranberry Raspberry & Strawberry Banana.

While I was there I saw some salad plates on clearance and remembered something I had read before.  As this Yahoo article points out,
"Diners given smaller dishes serve themselves smaller portions, researchers at Cornell University Food and Brand Lab in Ithaca, New York, found. And we eat about 92 percent of what we serve ourselves"
I bought three salad plates.  One is a cute white one with green trim that was on clearance.  The others have hearts and decorations from their Valentine's selection.  Two are plastic and one is ceramic.

Do you eat off salad plates? Do you find that this helps you eat less?

It depends on what we are eating. If it's pasta, we used a salad/pasta bowl, but we both tend to go back for seconds if we really liked what was cooked. So I don't think it really helps for us.

Hmmmm, that's interesting.
We use all different shapes and sizes of dishes, depending on what's going on.
Sometimes I'll use smaller dishes if I know I haven't made as much, so that smaller portions will be taken.
