Book Giveaway!

Most of my friends know that I am an avid sweeper - a person who likes to enter sweepstakes. I've entered almost 20,000 over the past few years (thanks to Roboform!) I've won all sorts of lovely things in my time.

Since I love entering giveaways, it's natural that I want to share that same joy. I have a book to give away to one lucky reader!

The title is If I'm So Smart, Why Can't I Lose Weight?: Tools to Get it Done by Brooke Castillo. She works as a weight loss coach, helping you discover your own stumbling blocks on the path to weight loss.

On the face of it, weight loss is simple - eat less/better and move more. However, many of us have destructive thought patterns and habits. I know that before, if I made a poor choice and ate something unhealthy, I would tell myself "You screwed up. What's the point now?", and the rest of the day I would continue to keep eating junk.

This book will help you recognize these problems and help you change them around. Brooke is encouraging and supportive.

The contest goes from now until October 17th at 11:59 PM PST. You must leave me some way to contact you - email, Twitter account, etc. Good luck!

To enter:

Entry #1 (1 time). Leave a post with a tip that helps you make better food choices.
Entry #2 (unlimited) Tweet a link to this giveaway. Leave a link with the status as a comment.
Entry #3 (1 time) Follow on Google Friend Connect, and leave a message.
Entry #4 (1 time) Subscribe to RSS feed, and leave a message.
Entry #5 (worth 3 entries) - Blog about the giveaway, and leave the link in a message.

If I drink more water, it helps me feel less hungry throughout the day and want fewer treats in the evening.

I won't eat while I am doing cross stitch, so if I get the munchies, out comes my project! Keeping my hands busy works to keep my mind of snacks - sometimes!

I make it a rule "no eating at the ocmputer." With the amount of time I spend online, that helps.

Have healthier options available in the house so when you get the urge to have something you have good options.

my best tip that works for me is i just dont buy juck food, i keep fresh fruit on hand at all times!!

If it's not available in my house, I won't eat it! I try to not having too many bad choices in the house, so when the obsession to eat hits, I only have carrots to nibble on.

I don't go down the snack aisle at the store. Ever. That way I'm not only not buying chips and cookies and soda, but after awhile I kind of forget they even exist because I never see them. You can't want something you never think about or see.

I try drinking a glass of water before meals. That seems to take the edge off my hunger and I eat less.

If I want a treat, my rule is I have to walk to the store to get it. The walk burns off the extra calories.

I have smaller plates. I'm sure that has helped! I've had them for 4 yrs and it's helped me with portion size. I know it's what you eat, but I have more problems with how much.

I have learned that most restaurants now offer low-cal or low-carb options on their menus. All you have to do is look for the flag! Don't be afraid to try them. I have found them all to be scrumptious and filling !Thanks!

I try to avoid bringing junk food into the house. If it isn't there I can't binge on it. At least that is my logic.

I've read that you should keep portion sizes no bigger than your fist.
